Continental Silver .830 Tankard - Sweden dated 1896

Greek Mythological Battle Scene - Humans vs. Centaurs.

 

A wonderful tankard with a hinged lid and embossed decoration of a battle scene

with men & women on horses battling against Centaurs (half man/half horse).

The tankard is in fantastic condition. There is inscribing around the rim of the lid and the very top.

 

The inscribing says:

"Till Otto Lundqwist. Tack for all god hjelp och redbart arbete 1896"

on the very top it reads: "Fron Far och mor pa brollopsdagen 1908"

The inside is gold washed.

 

hallmarked on lid and base: 3 crown mark (for Sweden), S6 (for 1896), AJ (maker's mark) & J (town mark).

Bottom also has - A 10130 .830 and a crescent moon and crown.

 

Measures: 6 1/2 inches high x 7 inches wide

Weight: 511 grams.
